10.4 Quality Bench Marking Tools Guidance

This chapter was added to the manual in October 2015.

The Quality Benchmarking Tools enable staff working in care environments to assess how well they meet standards in relation to providing a Quality Service. Brighton & Hove Adult Social Care Services have agreed 13 areas that they consider to be key areas of consideration in relation to Quality:

  • Activity (Lifestyle & Social Engagement);
  • Data Governance;
  • Equalities and Respecting Diversity;
  • Care Support Planning/ Meeting needs and outcomes;
  • Medication;
  • Quality Assurance Recording;
  • Staffing;
  • Community Engagement & Partnership Working;
  • Environment;
  • Developing services through feedback;
  • Management & Leadership;
  • Management of risks and restrictive practises;
  • Value for money.

An individual form is available to assess each key area of Quality; which supports staff in services to capture the current position (findings) and the actions linked to these. The idea is that a service would review their Benchmarking Tool on a regular basis to evaluate progress.
